Theory Parties

🎶Next week is Theory Party week for all locations. Please make sure you are registered for the theory party that you want to attend. Remember to be careful upon drop off and pick up as there is typically a lot of traffic. This theory party is all about Rhythm. We have engaging games to reinforce what we are learning in our one on one lessons. We will learn about triplets, sixteenth notes, eighth notes, and more. Our ears will discern rhythm and we will learn to create rhythms and improvise!

Ice Cream Social

🍨Friday, August 11 from 6:00-7:30 is our End of Summer ICE CREAM SOCIAL recital at Mrs. Shelia’s House, 3236 SE 20th St, Ankeny. Please bring a lawn chair if you plan to stay. Also, make sure your students are registered if you plan to attend so we can have enough of the good stuff for everyone. This is for our students, but parents and siblings are invited and encouraged to attend. If Grandma shows up we certainly won’t be mad, but this is an informal, outdoor event. So, make sure she knows what to expect!

Make-Up Lessons

🗓️ Make-up lessons must be scheduled through the portal or your teacher. Please look for OPEN LESSONS on the portal or reach out to your teacher by the end of next week to get any lessons scheduled if needed. Hopefully everyone has used the portal and picked up a lesson already. That method has worked really well this summer. Thank you for learning to use the portal and helping us keep our schedules set easily.

Fall Term Begins

🍂 Fall term will begin August 28th. Remember to update your maps as you head to lessons for Sarah and Shelia. Both families will finish out the Summer term at our current locations.

A Few Things To Note

We are updating several items for our next school year including our monthly announcements now called Selah Notables and our policies for 2023-2024. More details will come in our next monthly email- September Notable. 😉

CHANGES: We are adding the former “make-up week” each term as part of the normal lesson weeks and allowing parents to switch times if needed like we did this summer with our open lessons. So, no more “make-up” weeks. Our teachers will be allowed three flex weeks over the year to use for sick days, emergencies, etc. We are not raising tuition however, we are setting all students at the same monthly rate ($110 piano/$125 violin). So, no more sibling or one hour discount, however we are still below the normal tuition rate for our area. Please take time to read over the policies before we begin our fall term.
