GROUP THEORY LESSON

July is coming in HOT and we have our Summer Group Theory Lesson NEXT WEEK for all private lesson students and it is all about Note Recognition🎼. From Middle C to Ledger lines and the Grand Staff, this lesson will hone in on quickly identifying notes. We will have content for early beginners through advanced students. If you have not registered yet, please go into the Portal now and register. Remember our Group Theory Lesson (aka Theory Party🎉) replaces your private lesson with a one hour group lesson. Beginner Groups will meet as normal. No lessons on July 4th! Enjoy Independence Day and Let Freedom RING!🇺🇲

PRACTICE FOR POPS

We hope you have found a groove for practicing this summer. Our Practice for💥 POPS 💥reward system is popping along! Remember to aim for a 5 ⭐ Lesson and remind your student about the opportunity for a treat at every lesson.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL

We are gearing up to perform for our End of Summer Ice Cream Social🍦. The Ice Cream Social is a unique performance opportunity for the family. We will not formally sit down and listen. Instead students (and their partners) will come up and play then go get ice cream🍦. Whoever is around can listen. This year we will be at Outside Scoop in Ankeny. The entire family is welcome. (Selah will provide ice cream for our students.) Please register through the portal for whichever recital time works for you. This recital is a great time to show off your family’s talent 👪. From instrumental ensembles to vocalist and pianist, we hope you will pull out the stops and show us what you got. Chat with your teacher and let’s see what your family can do! Not everyone has to perform with a parent, grandparent, sibling, friend, or teacher, but we hope some of you will. Children LOVE to perform with family.

MAKE UP LESSONS

As you know we don’t do official make up days however, we do allow for lesson time swaps. Remember during summer it is easy to cancel your lesson and pick up an open spot. Simply go to the portal and choose the lesson you will miss. 🗓️Cancel the lesson. Then look for an open spot and register for that time. We want families to go on trips🚗, go to camps🏕️, etc. So, if we work together everyone can take off when needed and pick up a time when it is convenient. Reach out if you have any questions or if you need help navigating the portal.

FALL PLANNING

We are a year round studio and all year round students will be placed on the fall calendar with priority for desirable times first. Then we will give priority to our short summer session students. Lastly, we will open up to our waitlist and new prospects. We understand sometimes music lessons do not last forever and changes need to be made. We consider it a privilege to work with our Selah families for as long as we can. However, we understand when moves happen, sports are added, and schedules shift, that can change things. Your teacher should be communicating with you about your specific time for fall. (It is likely the same as summer or the same as last Spring) So, please let us know by July 15th if the proposed day and time will not work. That will really help us to be set for fall. The fall term begins August 26th.
