Happy February Selah Family,
I hope you are enjoying this warm week as we get ready for a plethora of ♥️red hearts♥️ all over town. It is the month of LOVE and we are going to LOVE having our first 2024 Theory Party week coming up February 12-17. This party is the LOVE of INTERVALS with a special opportunity to learn the Circle of 5ths for our intermediate and advanced students.
Theory Parties
Theory parties REPLACE your one-on-one lesson for the week. Instead of a half-hour private lesson, you will choose which time option is best for your family, and drop your student off for ONE HOUR of group learning time. Please REGISTER through the portal. Simply log in and hover to the LEFT and choose the CALENDAR. Then you can register your child.
What are Theory Parties?

Group Theory Lessons (aka Theory Parties) are a fantastic way to learn music theory! We learn so much better, and retain information better too, when we are actively involved in our learning. Using the body, looking at things from a different angle, applying our knowledge, and having fun, are all part of the Group Theory Lesson. We call them parties when we talk to the students because let’s face it: a party is always a fun time!
I love using games and activities in group lessons. Not only does it add a huge element of fun, the students get invested in concepts as they play together. Being intentional in the games and activities we use is key to making sure this is a productive time! Students always leave theory parties asking when we will have another!
Selah Musical Camp – STORMS
I am soooooooo excited to tell you about our Selah Musical Camp this summer called STORMS
A Musical Camp to inspire singing, dancing, acting, and drumming while learning vocal technique, choreography, drama, and percussion skills from talented and trained instructors. Selah Music Ankeny invites you to a week long experience! Through heartfelt songs, authentic dialogue, and a healthy dose of humor, we will unpack the Bible narrative of Jesus calming the STORM, realizing that no matter what happens in life, Jesus is in the boat with them.
Each day we will learn skills and prepare to perform the musical Storms. We will end the week with a performance at 11:00 on Friday that is open to the public.
