Summer Term
Each week students will have a chance to earn a POPscicle, Ring POP, Tootsie POP, Soda POP, or Push POP, or some other kind of POPPING surprise! If a student earns 5 STARS they get a POP. Anything less than 5 STARS will be marked as normal for the Magic Music Chest.
So, the stakes are HIGH and we want to encourage a 5 STAR ⭐week every week. If you are new, your teacher will explain the Magic Music Chest to you in your first lesson.
Outreach Recital
June 11th from 5:00-6:00 we have the opportunity to spread JOY at Edencrest Retirement Center in Johnston. If your student is available and has a piece or two ready for performance, we would love to have him or her join us. Please respond and let us know if you can join us or simply log in to the portal and add your student to the list. This unique experience will be outside in a Farmers Market setting for the residents. Parents are welcome to attend and visit with the residents.
Group Theory Lesson
Our only summer group lesson will be July 1-3. Please register for the day you want to come. This party will be all about NOTE RECOGNITION from Middle C for beginners to LEDGER LINES and intervals for our Intermediate and Advanced Students. We will have lots of games and activities to help us quickly identify and name notes and find those notes on our instrument. Did you know even percussionist need to read notation? Go to the PARENT PORTAL to register.
Travel Tips
Vacations are a welcome part of life and we want you to make the most of travel and learning. If you are traveling consider taking flashcards to work on music note recognition or download the app Flash Note Derby. Another fun activity the family can play together is NoteSpeed. None of those items require an instrument, but they can be great “helps” in learning the language of music! Happy Travels!
Missed Lessons
If you are missing a lesson you can look for an OPEN LESSON spot if you would like. That means everyone needs to go into the portal and go ahead and cancel times so there are options available. The goal is to remain engaged and continue learning. Your student is on the schedule for 8 private lessons, one group lesson, and one Ice Cream Recital. We want to be flexible so all of us can enjoy a vacation, camp, etc. but we still want lessons to be enriching. Reach out if you have any questions about that.

Go ahead and register for your group lesson and the ice cream social at the end.
Using the Portal
Here is a quick video on using the Portal. If you are struggling, please come into the studio during your lesson time and your teacher can walk you through it. To help us keep our studio organized, please use the portal to make any changes and avoid texting or emailing when possible. Make changes and register for open lessons, group lessons, and recitals through the Parent Portal. Hover to the LEFT on a laptop or the top on a phone. CLICK calendar. Go to the dates that you are going to be out and simply click “cancel lesson.” After you cancel you may want to look for OPEN LESSON times with your teacher.
