Yes! We will have a performance on Friday, June 21st at 11:00 AM and it will be open to the public.
Bella Bush will be the lead teacher for the Dance session. Bella has an extensive background in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and tap, and has been a local choreographer. You can see her latest work on stage for the Grand View Christian musical. Bella choreographed for their production, “Newsies.” Bella will teach basic techniques for dance and the choreography for our musical.
Brady Wetz will be the lead teacher for the Drum session. Brady will bring lots of life to our bucket drum line. From playing percussion in school band and to drum set, Brady has a ton of musical experience to share. Students will learn how to perform in the bucket drum ensemble and also learn basic rhythmic reading, dynamics, and staging for our musical.
Kayla Davenport will be the lead teacher for the Acting session. Kayla is currently “Jo” in Ankeny Christian Academy’s take on the musical “Little Women.” Kayla’s stage skills have developed over the years with performances in several other dramas. Kayla will teach basic stage techniques from vocal inflection to body language while preparing the young actors for our musical.
Shelia Miguez will be the lead teacher for solo vocal singing. With an extensive background in teaching and singing, Shelia brings many years of experience. Students will learn the basics of good vocal technique, from breathwork to enunciation, dynamics, stage presence, and singing expressively. Students from this breakout will be signing the solos from our musical.
Through heartfelt songs, authentic dialogue, and a healthy dose of humor, we will unpack the Bible narrative of Jesus calming the STORM, realizing that no matter what happens in life, Jesus is in the boat with them.
Each day we will learn skills and prepare to perform the musical STORMS. We will end the week with a performance at 11:00 on Friday that will be open to the public.
