Happy Spring!
I am so excited to announce the addition of a new teacher, a new Instrument, and a new location(s) to our Selah team!
Brady will be teaching piano and drums in Ankeny and he will be our first MOBILE teacher.
Has car, will travel! Please share this exciting news with your friends and be sure to let me know if you have a sibling student or if you are ready to learn one of these instruments.
For more information, check out his page on the website – Brady Wetz, Drum and Piano Instructor
Did you know we love adult students?! We always want to give priority to our current families.
Brady will have a group lesson for Beginners and a Short Summer Session for those who just want to try piano or drums for the Summer.
See more info HERE. He will also be offering a four-week Jazz and Chording Intensive for Intermediate and Advanced students.
Theory parties REPLACE your one-on-one lesson for the week. Instead of a half-hour private lesson, you will choose which time option and location is best for your family, and drop your student off for ONE HOUR of group learning time. Please REGISTER through the portal. Simply log in and hover to the LEFT and choose the CALENDAR. Then you can register your child.
This Theory Party will be slightly different than normal. We will be practicing for our recital.
No worries if it isn’t ready for performance. This is simply a time to practice and get our nervousness out of the way!
Please note our recital this semester is for students who have been in our studio for at least one semester. If you are brand new, we welcome you to attend the Spring Recital and perform in our Summer Recital.
Our Spring Recital is Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 or 2:00. This recital will take place at Cornerstone Baptist Church 701 E 1st St, Ankeny.
Please invite your family and friends. Our teachers have placed students based on how you registered and what makes for an engaging recital. Please see the list attached to your email and if you have a conflict, let me know asap.
Students will need to arrive 40 minutes before the beginning time to allow for a short pep talk and seating arrangement. Doors will open for guests 15 minutes before the beginning time.
I will remind you of this in our next Announcement newsletter, but I know I have some planners who like the deets early, so here you go! Speaking of planning…..
The summer schedule will be updated in the portal soon. As all of you know, we are a YEAR ROUND studio, which means we teach all year and you just need to give us a 30-day notice if you will be taking a break. Please know we strongly encourage not breaking during the summer! When your muscles and brain take a break, they forget the things we have been working so diligently on.
So, instead of a break, we just vary up our summer term a bit so we can flex for vacations and we make things a bit more playful during our lesson and theory weeks. Please be sure to communicate with your teacher if you will be making any changes.
Remember you will have the option to cancel lessons and look for an open spot to pick up a lesson. Also, please know, that summer students will roll into our fall schedule. That means if you do decide to break for summer, you may not get back on our schedule for the fall (insert very sad face 😞). Our summer term begins June 3. You can find this info in our policies on the website too.
